about
I paint modern representational portraits in thick oil paint with broad brushstrokes. My portraits are designed to flatter the sitter by revealing their character, as well as appearance. As a consequence I like to get to know my sitters well. A successful portrait is one that documents a relationship between the artist and sitter; it’s collaboration.
John Puckey has consistently attracted high profile sitters in politics, culture and the media. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Sir Tim Smit, Deborah Meaden and Sir John Nott have all posed for John.
John has had several media appearances. For more details scroll down this page.
